The villages of the municipality

Story-telling tradition, top competence and life quality are three keywords for Sunne. About 13.600 people live in the municipality and 5000 of them in the centre of Sunne. Some important villages are Rottneros, the church villages Lysvik, Gräsmark, Västra Ämtervik and Östra Ämtervik.

The story-telling tradition

The story-telling tradition is the soul and genius of the region. The historical culture heritage is cared for in many ways, a.o. the municipal culture school and a great number of culture events. The Mårbacka Memorial Manor and the Rottneros floral, sculpture and adventure Park are the most attractive sights. Rottneros was model for Ekeby in Selma Lagerlöf's novel Gösta Berling's Saga. Concerts with famous artists are arranged in the Rottneros park every summer.

Top Competence

Continuous development is always on the agenda. Many small and medium size companies are the base for the local trade and industry. Most important are the graphic industry, the tourist business and the farming and forestry. In a study made by the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, Sunne is ranked 16th among Swedish municipalities.

Life quality

Sunne can be characterized by blue lakes and hills, peaceful forests, the mystery of the fairy-tales and the good humour. Walking-tours, culture events, horse carriage tours, canoeing, fishing and bathing in log-heated barrels are just some activities to experience. And in the winter, there's the ski resort Ski Sunne with its ten pistes.
