Elverum
The municipality of Elverum by river Glomma has 18000 inhabitants. Elverum has a balanced industry, a college, a folk highschool and a military base. It is the centre of the region Sör-Österdalen and has the central hospital of Hedmark. The main sights are the forestry museum and the Glomdalen museum.
Haslev
The municipality of Haslev has 14000 inhabitants. The city is known for its schools, colleges, upper and post secondary educations. The industries are small and mediumsize companies, e.g in graphic, handicraft and service industries. Quite a number of people are commuting to workplaces in the Copenhagen area.
Siilinjärvi
The municipality of Siilinjärvi has close to 20000 inhabitants. It is located in the lake district north of Kuopio. The Baltic can be reached by boat via the Saimaa channel. The airport, route and train services facilitate communications. There is a lot to experience, museums, churches, bathing places, golf and many culture and sports arrangements.
Kingsburg, California, USA
The twin city contacts between Sunne and Kingsburg are dating from 1976. Kingsburg was founded by Swedes in the 1880’ies. The 7000 inhabitants of Kingsburg live in a garden city between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The valley is very rich, with vineyards and raisin and fruit industries, e g. Sun Maid Growers and Del Monte. Close to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Mustvee and the Peipsi region, Jögeva county, Estonia
Mustvee is a city of 2000 inhabitants in eastern Estonia at Peipsi lake. The area of the five municipalities of the Peipsi region is somewhat smaller than that of Sunne, and there are 10000 inhabibants. After the liberation from the USSR, supplies are being sent from the Sunne region to the hospital of Mustvee. From 1997 on, the cooperation is widened to comprise rescue services, and in 1998 a contract was signed about certain cooperation.
